HOW TO LOVE & TAKE CARE OF A GARMENT

ALL THE SKFK ITEMS ARE CRAFTED TO LAST

We dedicate the highest attention to designing long-lasting products. However, how you wash your clothes plays a critical role in extending their life cycle.

Throwing our clothes into the washing machine, pressing a button, and waiting for the cycle to finish. This seemingly harmless act also has significant environmental impacts, including the release of microplastics, water wastage, energy wastage, and the use of toxic detergents.

THE GOLDEN RULES TO LOVE AND MAKE YOUR SKFK CLOTHES LAST

Being thoughtful about the ways you wash, and dry clothing is an easy step towards more sustainable living, as well as prolonging the life of your garments. Always read the care label and try not to wash garments more than is necessary.

WASH ON A LOW CYCLE

The shortest wash cycle is typically enough to ensure your garment is clean, and it’s a simple way to save water.

CHOOSE A NATURAL LIQUID RINSE

Liquid detergents dissolve better than powders and are the most sensitive option for hand or machine washing.

USE A WASH BAG

For fine materials such as silk, viscose, wool, and polyester it’s helpful to use a specially designed wash bag and turn the garment inside out. These bags are designed to reduce microfibers shedding from synthetic materials (keeping plastics from going into the ocean), and they prevent abrasion during washing, which can lead to pilling.

WASH LESS OFTEN

Airing a garment outside is often enough to regain a fresh feeling.

ORGANIC COTTON

Take care of it

Organic cotton can be machine or handwashed. To avoid them from shrinking and keep them like the first day, wash 30°C. Hang cotton out to dry, as dryers can make the piece shrink. It also saves energy ;) As a recommendation, use natural soap.

LENZING™ ECOVERO™

Take care of it

TENCEL™ Modal & Lyocell

Take care of it

LINEN

Take care of it

Like many fabrics, linen needs less wash than expected. Hang the clothes to air them between wears. Machine wash at low spin and max 30°C. When hand washing, rinse with lukewarm water. Hang linen pieces to air dry. As a recommendation, use a natural soap.

RECYCLED POLYESTER
