OUR JOURNEY, FROM SKUNKFUNK TO SKFK

WE KNOW WE ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT STILL WE TRY LEARNING AND IMPROVING FOR THE BETTER EACH DAY, REDUCING OUR SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT THROUGHOUT EVERY STEP.

We take a result and fact-driven approach to creating change. At SKFK, we believe all factors matter when being a sustainable brand: from the people we work with to the transparency in the supply chain. All the little impacts we make, every day, are what really matter.

1999

HI SKUNKFUNK!

Our brand was born in the late 90s at the music festivals. We were travelers, and we permeated all this knowledge to our collections. A streetwear, urban and creative brand.

2003

REALITY CLASH

We visited one of our factories in China for the first time. We became aware of reality and decided something needed to be changed. Sustainability and social conditions were now on top of the list.

2009

WE NEEDED A FULL DIAGNOSIS

We first analyzed our impacts with experts from Textile Exchange. We set a 10-year plan to reduce our impacts, one by one, along our entire supply chain. Our first focus was raw materials.

2010

BYE CONVENTIONAL FIBERS

In 2010, we gradually stopped working with conventional fibers and we included low-impact ones in all our collections.

2012

WE WENT FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY

We transformed all our energy performance on our offices and stores in France and Spain.

2013

CERTIFICATIONS MATTER

We were the first brand in Spain to be GOTS certified. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification means that the fibres are organic, the manufacturing processes are less polluting and the working conditions comply with international standards. An independent organization monitors the factories every year.

2015

HELPING FARMERS IN INDIA

We decided to join the Chetna Cooperative located in the rainfed regions of central India, to help small producers move from conventional to organic farming, a complicated journey that more than 50% of the farmers end up giving up. Cotton farmers deserve to be empowered for what they are: a fundamental part of the textile value chain.

2016

FIRST ZERO WASTE DESIGN

How can we design and still generate zero waste? We did it for the first time on 2016 with a zero waste capsule. Zero Waste is based on the basis of a smart design, a method with which waste is not even produced and where the fabric roll is used entirely.

WE CREATE A COMMON GROUND FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND DESIGN, A CLEAR MEETING OF TWO OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CORES OF THE BRAND.

2017

IT’S BETTER WHEN IT’S CERTIFIED

First brand to be Fairtrade certified in Spain. Our work with the Chetna Coalition in India helped us get the certification. Fairtrade® is a way to conduct business that guarantees that farmers at the origin of our cotton are paid fairly; it also gives them subsidies for developing community projects.

2018

SCIENCE BASED TARGETS

But what does it mean? It’s the path to reduce our carbon emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. We set third-party-approved targets for SKFK. We now compensate for our direct emissions and work towards carbon neutrality.

2019

HI SKFK

We evolved, so did our brand. Our name needed to change to reflect that evolution. We are still the same essence: a creative brand, with unique prints and focused on sustainability.

2022

ON DEMAND CAPSULE

We launched our first ever on-demand capsule. As any other clothing company, we have an environmental footprint on our Planet. We always strive to innovate and find ways to reduce our impacts. Producing strictly what is needed, thus generating no stock, is currently our priority.

2023

OPENING THE MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK

We debuted in the MBFWM with an activist message in favor of slow fashion and other ways of making fashion.
